● MT5 AUTOMATION

What is an expert advisor (EA) in MT5?

An expert advisor (EA) is a program that runs inside MetaTrader 5 and places and manages trades for you based on rules and settings. You set the pairs and risk; it watches the market and acts.

How an EA works

It reads price data, checks its rules, opens trades when a setup appears and manages them: stop loss, take profit and moving stops. You control the settings like risk per trade, pairs and trading hours.

How to add an EA to MT5

  1. Open MetaTrader 5 and go to File, then Open Data Folder
  2. Put the EA file in MQL5, then Experts
  3. Restart MT5 and drag the EA onto a chart
  4. Turn on Algo Trading in the toolbar
  5. Start on a demo account

Some EAs, like DDX MT5 Trinity Automation, need nothing installed: you log in and connect your MT5 account.

Questions people ask

Is an expert advisor the same as a trading bot?

Yes. EA is the MetaTrader name for a trading bot.

Do expert advisors work on MT4?

MT4 has its own EAs. An MT5 EA does not run on MT4.

Are EAs free?

Some are free, many are paid. Price says little about quality; test on demo.
